Justin Drew Bieber, born on March 1, 1994, is a
Canadian pop-R&B singer. He was born in London, Ontario and was raised in
Stratford, Ontario, CANADA.
During his childhood, Justin was interested in
hockey, soccer, and chess; he often kept his musical aspirations to himself.
As he grew he taught himself to play the piano, drums, guitar, and trumpet.
In early 2007, when he was 12, Justin sang
Ne-Yo’s “So Sick” for a local singing competition in Stratford and placed
second. His Mother posted a video of the performance on YouTube. She
continued to upload videos of Justin singing covers of various R&B songs,
and Justin Youtube popularity grew.
In 2008, Scooter Braun, now Justin’s manager came
across his videos on YouTube and immediately spotted his talent. Mr. Braun
arranged for him to meet with Usher in Atlanta, Georgia, and soon after Justin
was signed to Raymond Braun Media Group (RBMG). Raymond Braun Media Group is
a joint venture between Braun and Usher. Shortly after being signed by RBMG
Justin was offered a recording contract by L.A. Reid from Island Records.
His debut single, “One Time”, was released
worldwide in 2009. The single charted in the top 30 in over ten countries.
His debut release, My World, followed on November 17, 2009, and was
eventually certified platinum in the United States. Justin Bieber became the
first artist to have seven songs from a debut album chart on the Billboard
Hot 100.
His “My World 2.0″ was released on March 23, 2010
and has since received similar success; it debuted at number one and within
the top ten of several countries and was certified platinum in the United
States.
On November 1, 2011, Justin released his 3rd
album, Under the Mistletoe. The album debuted at No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard
200. Under the Mistletoe is Justin's third No. 1 album and the first
Christmas album by a male artist to debut at No. 1.
Justin is also the first solo artist to have
three No. 1 albums before his 18th birthday. For all of 2011, the album
totalled 1,245,000 copies in U.S. sales.
